People indeed have concerns, including privacy and security issues, and hence the researcher must offer methods of guaranteeing privacy and security. Part of ensuring that the fieldwork adheres to ethical standards informs the participants what information will be collected, used, and securing the data. Still, as the post points out, some participants can harm themselves, and the researchers have to inform relevant authorities in case of any security threats. It is part of the researcher's responsibility to ensure the safety of participants.
