Executive summary:
This report has analyzed the operational effectiveness of Unilever using variety of tools and dimensions.
During the analysis, the operational process design was constructed. The design consisted of two sections. The first section was related to operational process map and second section was consisted of transformation process map. No such map was given on company’s website or on any other source, it was designed based on the prior understanding of organization’s processes.
The location strategy of Unilever has been discussed and analyzed. Consumer items and household favorites have been a big part of Unilever's business for many years, but the company has managed to preserve its market-share dominance by integrating all its business as well as geographic strategies together.
SWOT analysis of Unilever has been performed. When looking at the company's SWOT profile, it was clear that Unilever had adequate strengths and resources to handle the transition
Financial analysis of Unilever has been executed, and the challenges faced by Unilever are jotted down and analyzed.
Assessment of tools and data set has been done using OPVL technique and all the related sources and tools which are used in the analysis of Unilever are identified.
At the end, a brief conclusion of the report has been added and all the recommendations to organization has been provided in the conclusion as well.
Introduction:
The goal of this research is to assess the 'Unilever's' operational efficiency. A brief introduction of the organization is presented in this report. This report will examine Unilever's operational efficiency in a variety of ways. Operational design, layout and capacity, market and financial controls will be reviewed when the location is chosen. There will be suggestions for improvement in efficiency and decision making in each section. Data and information sources will then be evaluated. The conclusion of the report is also added at the end.
Unilever was formed on 2 sept, 1929, when the British soap company Lever Brothers and the Dutch margarine company Margarine Unie combined. Aside from oil and fat production, the corporation diversified and expanded its operations all over the world in the late 20th century. It has made several acquisitions in the corporate sector. ICI purchased Unilever's specialty chemical assets in 1997. A gradual shift away from quietly food items to beauty and wellness brands occurred under Paul Polman's management in the 2010s.
United Kingdom's capital city of London serves as Unilever's headquarters. As an example, Unilever produces a wide range of products, including food and condiments like ice cream as well as vitamin and mineral supplements, as well as cleaning products like detergents and pet food like dog toothpaste. Unilever is indeed the world's largest soap manufacturer. Unilever's products are sold in 190 countries
