Sherryl Lynn Jacquot's Missing Person Case (Article Sample)

Instructions:

Based on a provided annotated bibliography one should have written an article on the Sherryl Lynn Jacquot missing person case.
Your objective is to research a criminal murder case (MMIW) concerning a crime committed in the past 50 years. You are expected to use proper research protocol in every way, including writing style and MLA annotation of sources. This project asks you to trace the narrative of a true crime case through four levels of media coverage.
1. a local newspaper or television report
2. a newspaper with national circulation (for example, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los-Angeles Times)
3. a printed or online magazine with national circulation, online blog, or true-crime novel
4. a national television news broadcast (for example, The CBS Evening News, 360 with Anderson Cooper, CNN), news magazine ―documentary‖ program (such as Dateline: NBC, ABC‘s Primetime, CBS‘ 48 Hours Mystery, A&E‘s American Justice), or made-for-TV docudrama.
5. Podcast, website with information, if you find another site let me know before starting research.
Retrace the presentation of your case through these four outlets. Concentrate your analysis on how specific evidence is found, discussed, analyzed, and displayed as the case shifts representational venues.
Your goal as a writer is not to categorize one source as true and the others as false; treat all with equal suspicion regarding their subjectivity. Your paper should present an analysis of how the “story” of murder influences the presentation of “evidence” and how that narrative may change over time as a case progresses through the stages of a prosecution and against the backdrop of the court of public opinion.
You may choose different points in a case‘s timeline and connect those with different venues of coverage. You could choose one point in the case (initial report, indictment, trial date, or verdict) and explore that moment‘s reportage across the four venues.
Follow this format when preparing your written report:
• Discuss all relevant details/collected evidence of the crime
• Explain how the media played a role in the criminal case
• Clearly describe the eventual outcome of the case (if it is unsolved, discuss where it is currently).
• Use MLA citation format for all resources

Sherryl Lynn Jacquot Missing Person’s case
Introduction
Throughout history, there have been several cases of missing people and murders; some were solved, yet others remain a mystery. In many cases of missing persons, the family takes the middle role of trying to find them through the use of authorities and the public. The authorities help track down the person and find evidence that could lead to the missing person. The public is essential because people who might have seen the missing person at a particular time could offer the necessary information that could help in finding the missing person. The information from the public could help solve missing people’s cases faster. One other key player in cases of missing persons is the media. The media plays a key role by spreading information to the public on the missing person and persuading them to volunteer information. The mass media and social media all play a significant role in ensuring that there are updates on the missing person, and they follow up on the case through various stages. One such case is the case of Sherryl Lynn Jacquot, who went missing in 1988, yet the case remains a mystery to date.

However, despite injuries, Sherryl refused to seek medical attention. According to the family, it was usual for her to go for months without speaking to them. However, at the time of her disappearance, she had no phone but called her mother from an unknown number. The mother said they had received information that she had been hanging out with the wrong crowd. When the family heard rumors of her alleged death, they visited her last known address, but she was absent. Sherryl's Datsun truck was never recovered, and authorities believed foul play was involved. Sherryl was never found, and a Facebook page constantly reports updates on the case.
